The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) offers several scholarships each year, including the $10,000 Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship. Upper-level undergraduate students and graduate students in accounting programs and with an interest in public service may apply.

Eligibility Criteria
- Citizen or permanent resident of the U.S. or Canada
- Not a past GFOA scholarship winner
- College junior, senior, or graduate student
- Enrolled full-time in college
- Studying accounting
- Commitment to public service
Application Process
- Navigate to the online GFOA scholarship application form and select the Greathouse scholarship
- Complete the form and upload all supplemental materials, including:
- Current academic transcripts
- Proof of enrollment
- Resume, personal statement, and short-answer response
- 2 letters of recommendation (submitted as a single document)
- Submit the form and materials in advance of the deadline
- Ensure you have received an email confirmation once you have applied
The deadline to apply for any GFOA scholarship is December 31st; winners will be announced at the end of the following March. Past GFOA award recipients may not apply for future GFOA awards.
